Open Air Val Lumnezia
The Open Air Lumnezia is a Swiss open-air - music festival in Grisons . It takes place every year on the penultimate weekend in July in the Val Lumnezia near Degen .
history
The Open Air Lumnezia started in 1985 as a small rock concert in Davos Munts at Vattiz . It was founded by the young Lumnezia team . The local bands attracted around 700 visitors at that time. Due to the success of the event, further concerts were organized in the following years. After a rainy open air, to which far too few visitors came, the club wrote a big deficit and the further implementation was on the brink. Thanks to great commitment and the founding of the “Uniun Open Air Val Lumnezia” association, the concert was able to continue. Ten years after it was founded, the Val Lumnezia Open Air, with 2000 visitors, had become an important Open Air in Graubünden.
The Open Air Lumnezia is now one of the largest festivals in Switzerland, but with over 18,000 visitors it is a little behind the others. Due to the limitation of the size of the site, the open air could not be expanded for a long time. For this and other reasons it has been held in Degen since 2006.
