Presque Isle County is a county in the state of Michigan in the United States . The county seat is Rogers City .

The county is located in the extreme northeast of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, borders Lake Huron , one of the five great lakes , and has an area of ​​6,663 square kilometers, of which 4,954 square kilometers are water. It is bordered by counties in a clockwise direction: Alpena County , Montmorency County, and Cheboygan County .

history

Presque Isle County was formed in 1840 from parts of Mackinac County. It was named after the then common French expression for peninsula .

According to the 2000 census , Presque Isle County had 14,411 people in 6,155 households and 4,203 families. The population density was 8 people per square kilometer.
