Saginaw County is a county in the state of Michigan in the United States . The county seat is Saginaw .

The county is located slightly southeast of the geographic center of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, is about 15 km to the northeast from Lake Huron , one of the five great lakes , and has an area of ​​2113 square kilometers, of which 18 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Bay County , Tuscola County , Genesee County , Shiawassee County , Gratiot County, and Midland County .

Saginaw County was formed in 1822 from parts of Oakland County. It was named after an Indian expression.

According to the 2000 census , Saginaw County had 210,039 people in 80,430 households and 55,818 families. The population density was 100 inhabitants per square kilometer.
