Saginaw County is a county in the state of Michigan in the United States . The county seat is Saginaw .

The county is located slightly southeast of the geographic center of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, is about 15 km to the northeast from Lake Huron , one of the five great lakes , and has an area of ​​2113 square kilometers, of which 18 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Bay County , Tuscola County , Genesee County , Shiawassee County , Gratiot County, and Midland County .

Saginaw County was formed in 1822 from parts of Oakland County. It was named after an Indian expression.

According to the 2000 census , Saginaw County had 210,039 people in 80,430 households and 55,818 families. The population density was 100 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 75.33 percent white, 18.62 percent African American, 0.41 percent Native American, 0.80 percent Asian, 0.01 percent from the Pacific island area and 2.88 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.95 percent were descended from two or more races.
