The Livingston County is a county in the State of Michigan of the United States . The county seat is Howell .
Livingston County is part of Metro Detroit , the metropolitan area around the city of Detroit .

The county is located in the mid-southeast of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan and has an area of 1516 square kilometers, of which 44 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

history
Livingston County was formed in 1836 from parts of Shiawassee County and Washtenaw County. It was named after Edward Livingston (1764-1836), a former US Secretary of State .
The county is one of the so-called Cabinet Counties , as it was named after a member of the cabinet of US President Andrew Jackson like some others .

According to the 2000 census , Livingston County had 156,951 people in 55,384 households and 43,531 families. The population density was 107 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 97.13 percent white, 0.46 percent African American, 0.43 percent Native American, 0.57 percent Asian, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.32 percent from other ethnic groups Groups. 1.06 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any of the above mentioned groups were 1.24 percent of the population.
Of the 55,384 households, 39.8 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them. 68.5 percent were married couples living together, 6.8 percent were single mothers, and 21.4 percent were non-families. 17.1 percent were single households and 5.4 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.80 and the average family size was 3.18.
28.8 percent of the population were under 18 years old. 6.6 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 31.7 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, 24.6 percent between 45 and 64 years of age, and 8.3 percent were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 102.1 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 99.7 men.
The median income for a household in the 67,400 USD , and the median income for a family 75,284 USD. Males had a median income of $ 54,358 versus $ 32,073 for females. The per capita income was $ 28,069. 2.4 percent of families and 3.4 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
