Halámky (German Witschkoberg ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located ten kilometers northwest of České Velenice and belongs to the Okres Jindřichův Hradec .

geography

The village is located on the right side of the meander course of the Lainsitz on the Europastraße 49 / Staatsstraße 24, which leads southeast over the border crossing Halámky / Neu-Nagelberg to Austria . Neighboring towns are Ochůzky in the north, Spáleniště in the northeast, Kunšach in the east, Neu-Nagelberg in the southeast, Nová Ves nad Lužnicí in the south, Dvory nad Lužnicí in the west and Hrdlořezy in the northwest.

history

The Weitra area was settled in the 14th century . Witschkoberg was one of the later foundations, the date of origin is assumed to be around 1730. The location has not yet been entered on previous historical maps of the area. Its name is a Germanization of the Slavic Vlčkův kopec . The first documentary evidence of the village belonging to the Heidenreichstein lordship dates from 1783. Witschkoberg was parish of Gmünd until the parish of Beinhöfen was established in 1788 .

In 1900 the village consisted of 54 houses and had 499 inhabitants. After the First World War, the place in the Lower Austrian administrative district of Schrems belonged to the part of the Weitra area that was assigned to Czechoslovakia in the Treaty of Saint-Germain in 1920 .

In 1930 386 people lived in the village. In 1938 they moved into a new school building. In 1939 Witschkoberg had 313 inhabitants. According to the Munich Agreement , the place was assigned to the German district of Gmünd from 1939 to 1945. After the end of the Second World War he came back to Czechoslovakia. Today Halámy consists of 99 houses and 21 recreational objects.
