Pictures from Germany (stamp series)
Pictures from Germany is a series of stamps from the Federal Republic of Germany, which shows the beauty and diversity of German landscapes with striking examples. It must not be confused with the stamp series Pictures from German Cities .
The first stamps appeared at the time of the German Federal Post Office in 1993 and by 2003 all stamps were designed by Heinz Schillinger (1929–2008). After a three-year break, Deutsche Post AG continued the series on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Finance with a 2006 block edition, which was designed by Joachim Rieß .
Almost all of the stamps designed by Heinz Schillinger were produced using offset printing in the Bundesdruckerei Berlin with a 13 3/4 to 14 comb perforation. In the first two years of issue 1993 and 1994, the stamps were still printed in normal stamp sheets with 25 stamps per sheet in 5 × 5 format. After the switch to small sheets, only 10 stamps per sheet in the 2 × 5 format were printed. The last stamp of the series designed by Heinz Schillinger from 2003 was printed by the Schwann-Bagel printing company in Düsseldorf with a 13 to 13½ comb perforation.
At the time of issue, all postage stamps had the value for a standard letter within Germany. The stamps issued on August 28, 1997 had already anticipated the postage increase on September 1, 1997. Standard letters were overpaid at 10 pfennigs between Thursday, August 28th and Monday, September 1st.
