Ford Excursion (2004-2006)

The Ford Excursion is an SUV from the US automaker Ford that was manufactured from early 2000 to mid-2006.

The Excursion is one of the largest vehicles on American roads and the largest off-road vehicle in the world. It is based on the heavy-duty versions of the Ford F-Series and was available with rear-wheel or (even while driving) switchable all-wheel drive . The all-wheel drive version has rigid axles at the front and rear.

Despite its all-wheel drive technology, the large SUV does not come close to the off-road properties of its competitors Chevrolet Suburban and Hummer H1 .

In the spring of 2004 the excursion was slightly revised, which mainly concerned the front (more chrome on the grille) and rear (changed lights).

In May 2006 Ford stopped the series due to lack of demand, as sales in the previous year fell by over 60%.

Since the 2007 model year, the Excursion has been replaced by a 40 cm longer version of the Ford Expedition with the name affix EL.

There were four engines to choose from: a 5.4-liter V8 with 255 hp , a 6.8-liter V10 with 314 hp, a 6-liter V8 diesel with 325 hp and a 7.3-liter V8 turbodiesel with 275 hp (from 2004 290 hp).
