Ford Versailles was the name of two different car models offered by the US automobile company Ford .

France

After Simca took over the French Ford works in 1954, the Ford Vedette continued to be produced as Simca Vedette until 1957; In the export markets, the car had various designations, including Ford Versailles.

As part of the Autolatina agreement between Ford and Volkswagen , Ford also produced variants of the VW Santana for the South American market .

The Ford Versailles was launched in 1991 as the successor to the Ford Del Rey . It was a visually slightly modified Santana as a two- and four-door sedan and as a three-door station wagon (under the name Royale ). In 1995 and 1996 the Royale was also available with five doors. In Argentina, the Versailles was sold as the Ford Galaxy and replaced the Ford Sierra there before it was replaced by the Mondeo itself .

After the end of the Autolatina, the production of the Ford Versailles ended in 1996.
