Ford Shelby GR-1 is a concept car of a sports car from Ford , which at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach in 2004 and at the North American International Auto Show 2005 in Detroit ( Michigan ) in the United States was presented.
The vehicle
Carroll Shelby was involved in the design ; Parts of the design were borrowed from the Shelby Daytona . With this fastback , the rear ends 97 centimeters behind the axle. The tires are 275/40 / R19 at the front and 345/35 at the rear.
Technical specifications
The displacement is 6400 cubic centimeters . The car is powered by a V-engine with ten cylinders and 679 Newton meters at a speed of 5550 revolutions per minute and 451 kilowatts (613 hp ). It's the same engine as in the 2004 Shelby Cobra .
Serial production
The concept was rejected again in favor of the Ford GT . But in 2019 - almost 15 years after the concept vehicle was presented - the manufacturer Superformance began producing the vehicle in small series; the engine is likely the same as in the Shelby GT500 . Initially 100 or 200 units are planned, a total of up to 325 units are to be built - that is the maximum annual number allowed by the US Low Volume Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Act .
