particularities
Hellschen-Heringsand-Unterschaar is Germany's longest municipality name with 32 characters.
A special feature is a single-family house on Dorfstrasse. The house designed by the architect Klaus Sill and built in 1994/1995 won second place in the 1999 BDA Architecture Prize Schleswig-Holstein. The detached house should harmonize with the landscape of the nearby North Sea coast. The building therefore has a closed concrete facade to the northwest facing the weather with aluminum and sheet metal cladding as protection against the environment, but to the south it has a wood and glass construction with a terrace sheltered from the wind. It is intended to reflect both the difference and the complexity of the landscape from which it was formed.
