geography
The municipality of Herny is located about 27 kilometers southeast of Metz .
history
The village was first mentioned as Hernex in 1409 and was occupied and annexed by France in 1552, which was recognized in the Peace of Westphalia in 1648 .
From 1871 to 1918, Herny and Alsace-Lorraine were part of the German Empire , but French remained the official and colloquial language.
