Coume (German: Kuhmen ) is a French commune with 662 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ).

location

The municipality is located in the north of Lorraine, about eight kilometers west of the border town of Creutzwald .

history

There were already settlements here in Gallo-Roman times . The place was first mentioned as Cuine in the 11th century. Other names were Coma (1217), Come (1274), Cosme (1404), Coume (1630), Chom (1681), Koume (1688), Coom (1760) and many similar spellings.
