Medina County is a county in the state of Ohio in the United States . At the 2010 census , the county had 172,332 residents and a population density of approximately 158 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Medina .

The county is located a little east in northern Ohio, about 30 km from Lake Erie , the southernmost of the 5 Great Lakes , and has an area of ​​1906 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Cuyahoga County , Summit County , Wayne County , Ashland County, and Lorain County .

history

Medina County was formed on February 18, 1812 from parts of Portage County. It was named after the city of Medina in Saudi Arabia , although the historical context is uncertain.
