Nissan Sunny Coupe

The Nissan Sunny Coupé (B12) (called Nissan Sunny RZ-1 in Japan ) is a passenger car that was built by Nissan between spring 1986 and the end of 1990 in two model series. The 2 + 2 seater is in fact a sports coupé. It was the forerunner of the Nissan 100NX .

Outside Europe it was offered under the name Nissan Sentra Coupé or Nissan ZX Coupé and in Japan itself as the Nissan RZ-1 . The vehicles delivered to different countries differed greatly in terms of details and engines, so the 1.8-liter engine (92 kW / 125 PS) introduced at the beginning of 1989 was never offered in the United States.

While the oldest Sunny ( B11 ) still appeared flat, the successor model ( B12 ) was designed with angular taillights, a long bonnet and a huge curved rear window. However, there were also different body shapes here, in addition to the coupe a station wagon version ( called Traveler by Nissan ).

The petrol engine of the Sunny Coupé ranged from the (rarely sold) 1.5-liter engine with 52 kW (71 hp) to the Sunny GTI , its series engine with 92 kW (125 hp) and 1.8 l displacement has been loaded. In general, the Coupé of the B12 series was extremely stable, which is also reflected in the reliability of the technical components. The coating is responsible for the above-average rust condition after more than twenty-five years. All sheets were protected from rust with a coating of nickel / zinc.

However, the Sunny Coupé was not a hit at the time, which is why, from spring 1989, more powerful engines and an optical facelift on z. B. Grill, taillights and trim should boost sales.
