Haute-Vigneulles ( German Oberfillen , Lorraine Oberfiln ) is a French commune with 416 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ).

geography

The municipality of Haute-Vigneulles is located about 28 kilometers east of Metz and 14 kilometers west of Saint-Avold .

The village of Basse-Vigneulles ( Niederfillen ) to the south has been part of the Haute-Vigneulles municipality since 1810 .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1325 as Obervilen and has belonged to France since 1766. From 1871–1918 it was temporarily part of the German Empire again .
