Kenya took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics in the US metropolis of Atlanta with 52 athletes, 10 women and 42 men, in 27 competitions in five sports.

Since 1956 it was Kenya's ninth participation in the Summer Olympics .

Flag bearer

Track and field athlete Paul Tergat carried the flag of Kenya during the opening ceremony on July 19 at the Centennial Olympic Stadium .

Medalist

With a recovered gold, four silver and three bronze medals, the Kenyan team finished 38th in the medals table .
