Peter Berger (born October 16, 1949 in Konstanz ) is a former German rower.

In 1967, Peter Berger and Niko Ott were German champions in two with a helmsman. At the pre-Olympic regatta in Mexico City, he was in the victorious four-man with helmsman and eight.

At the Olympic Games in 1968 he competed in a four-man team with helmsman together with Niko Ott, Udo Brecht, Hans-Johann Färber and helmsman Stefan Armbruster. Fifth in the first semifinal, the team could not qualify for the final. They did not take part in the small final because two rowers were ill. Niko Ott jumped in eighth for Roland Boese, who was also ill, and became Olympic champion.

In 1969 the four-man was filled with a helmsman and Peter Berger, the strongest of the candidates, was appointed batsman . Gerhard Auer and Alois Bierl sat next to Hans-Johann Färber in the boat. Because of the great strength values of the four rowers, they became known as the bull quad . With helmsman Stefan Voncken, the four became European champions in 1969 and world champions in 1970. In 1971 the boat defended its European championship with helmsman Uwe Benter .

For winning the European Championship title, he and his team received the Silver Laurel Leaf on February 27, 1970 .

The boat, which had been unbeaten for years, was a huge favorite for the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. On September 2nd, the regatta course in Oberschleißheim was sold out, but the rush of visitors without tickets was so great that the fences couldn't hold up. The bull quad steered by Uwe Benter won the expected gold medal safely in front of the boats from the GDR and Czechoslovakia, it was to remain the only rowing gold for the Federal Republic in 1972.

After the Olympic Games, the crew split up and only Hans-Johann Färber was present at the 1976 Olympic Games .
