Platte County is a county in the state of Nebraska in the United States . The administrative seat ( county seat ) is Columbus , which was named after the city of the same name Columbus in Ohio .

The county is located in east central Nebraska and has an area of ​​1785 square kilometers, of which 29 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Colfax County , Butler County , Polk County , Merrick County , Nance County , Boone County , Madison County, and Stanton Counties .

As of the 2000 census , Platte County had 31,662 people in 12,076 households and 8,465 families. The population density was 18 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 94.29 percent white, 0.35 percent African American, 0.28 percent Native American, 0.40 percent Asian, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 3.49 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.15 percent were descended from two or more races. 6.54 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
