Saint-Jean-d'Avelanne is a French municipality with 966 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs administratively to the Arrondissement La Tour-du-Pin and is part of the canton Chartreuse-Guiers (until 2015: canton Le Pont-de-Beauvoisin ). The inhabitants are called Fitiliards .

geography

Saint-Jean-d'Avelanne is located about 15 kilometers west-southwest of Chambéry . The Guiers runs on the extreme northeastern border of the municipality. Saint-Jean-d'Avelanne is surrounded by the neighboring communities Le Pont-de-Beauvoisin in the north, Domessin in the northeast, Saint-Albin-de-Vaulserre in the east, Saint-Martin-de-Vaulserre in the southeast, Velanne in the south and southwest as well as pressins in the west.
