Sillans is a French commune with 1,909 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; administratively it belongs to the arrondissement Vienne and is part of the canton Bièvre (until 2015: canton Saint-Étienne-de-Saint-Geoirs ).

Sillans is located about 35 kilometers northwest of Grenoble at the foot of the Chartreuse massif and on the small river Ravageuse . Sillans is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bévenais in the north, Le Grand-Lemps in the northeast, Izeaux in the east, Plan in the south, Saint-Étienne-de-Saint-Geoirs in the west and La Frette in the north-west.

The former route nationale 519 (today's D119) runs through the municipality .
