Salaise-sur-Sanne is a French municipality with 4513 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Vienne and the canton of Roussillon .

geography

To the west of Salaise-sur-Sanne, the partially canalized Rhône flows . The municipality is also crossed by the eponymous river Sanne . Salaise-sur-Sanne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Péage-de-Roussillon in the north, Ville-sous-Anjou in the east and northeast, Agnin in the southeast, Chanas in the south, Sablons in the southwest and Charnas in the west.

Both Route nationale 7 and Autoroute A7 run through the municipality . The Paris – Marseille railway line also crosses the municipality.

history

Around the year 847, Count Otto founded the Condat Abbey. A small number of monks formed the Salegiae Salibicus priory . Today's Salaise-sur-Sanne emerged from this nucleus.
