Saint-Maurice-l'Exil is bounded to the west by the partially canalised Rhone and to the east by Route nationale 7 . Neighboring municipalities are Clonas-sur-Varèze in the north, Roussillon in the east and south-east, Le Péage-de-Roussillon , in the west and south-west of Saint-Pierre-de-Bœuf , Chavanay in the west and north-west and Saint-Alban-du-Rhône in the Northwest.
Part of the Saint-Alban nuclear power plant is located in the north-west of the municipality .
