Porte-des-Bonnevaux is a French commune with 2,015 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Vienne and the canton of Bièvre .
It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2019 by amalgamating the previous municipalities of Arzay , Commelle , Nantoin and Semons , which have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Semons.

geography
The municipality is located around 30 kilometers southeast of Vienne on the southern edge of the Forêt de Bonnevaux forest area , which is particularly characterized by its large number of lakes. The river Gère has its source in the municipality . The area is accessed from the D51 département road. Neighboring municipalities are Lieudieu and Châtonnay in the north, Champier in the east, Mottier in the southeast, La Côte-Saint-André and Ornacieux-Balbins in the south, Bossieu in the west and Villeneuve-de-Marc in the northwest.
