Assieu is a French commune with 1,472 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement Vienne and the canton Vienne-2 (until 2015: canton Roussillon ). The inhabitants are called Assieutaires (also: Assieutois ).
geography
Assieu is about twelve kilometers south of Vienne . The Varèze river limits the municipality to the north. Assieu is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Cheyssieu in the north and north-west, Vernioz in the north, Monsteroux-Milieu in the east and north-east, La Chapelle-de-Surieu in the south-east, Saint-Romain-de-Surieu and Ville-sous-Anjou in the south, Roussillon in the west and south-west and Auberives-sur-Varèze in the north-west.
