Beaufort is a French commune of 548 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement Vienne and the canton Bièvre (until 2015: canton Roybon ).

Beaufort is about 25 kilometers southeast of Vienne . Beaufort is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Pajay in the north, Thodure in the east, Lentiol in the south, Marcollin in the south and south-west, Saint-Barthélemy in the west and Pommier-de-Beaurepaire in the north-west.
