Sonnay is about 18 kilometers south-southeast of Vienne . Sonnay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Chapelle-de-Surieu in the north, Bellegarde-Poissieu in the east and northeast, Jarcieu in the southeast, Bougé-Chambalud in the south, Anjou in the west and Ville-sous-Anjou in the northwest.
