Saint-Just-Chaleyssin is a French commune with 2,568 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Vienne and the canton of La Verpillière . The inhabitants are called Chaleyssinois .

geography

Saint-Just-Chaleyssin is 23 kilometers south-east of Lyon on the Sévenne River . Saint-Just-Chaleyssin is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Chaponnay in the north and north-west, Valencin in the east and north-east, Oytier-Saint-Oblas in the south and south-east, Septème in the south and south-west and Luzinay in the west.

history

The municipality was founded in 1790/1794 through the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Saint-Just and Chaleyssin .
