The list of drivers in the 1997 Tour de France shows all participants in the 84th Tour de France . A total of 198 drivers in 22 teams took part in the prologue in Rouen . 139 drivers reached the destination in Paris .

Legend

  • Suspension: exclusion by own team
  • Exclusion: Exclusion by the race management before the start of the stage
  • Disqualification: Exclusion by the race management after the start of the race
  • winner: Stage winner
  • Yellow jersey: Yellow jersey for the overall leader
  • Green jersey: Green jersey for the best in points
  • Dotted jersey: Dotted jersey for the best mountain rider
  • White jersey: White jersey for the best young professional (The white jersey was not worn in 1997. It is used here for illustration, since the evaluation of the best young driver was given at the end of the tour.)
  • Team ranking: Yellow number on the back of the team leading in the team classification (The yellow number on the back was not yet assigned in 1997. In this illustration, it is only intended for visualization.)
  • Red number on the back: Red number on the back for the most combative driver of the tour. (Not taken daily in 1997.)
