Joseph Hawkins (politician)
Joseph Hawkins (born November 14, 1781 in New York , † April 20, 1832 in Henderson , New York) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1829 and 1831 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Joseph Hawkins was born during the American Revolutionary War . He completed his preliminary studies. Hawkins was studying law . After receiving his license to practice law, he began practicing in Henderson, Jefferson County . He also pursued agricultural activities.
As a result of a fragmentation of the Democratic Republican Party before and during the presidency of John Quincy Adams (1825-1829), he joined the anti-Jacksonian faction . In the congressional elections of 1828 Hawkins was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 20th constituency of New York , where he succeeded Rudolph Bunner and Silas Wright on March 4, 1829 . He retired from the after 3 March 1831 Congress of.
He died on April 20, 1832 in Henderson and was buried in Clark Cemetery .
