The Karabag Group is a German commercial vehicle dealer and former manufacturer of electric vehicles based in Hamburg / Germany.

The company, founded by Sirri Karabag in 1992, has an annual turnover of 25 million euros and is a leading provider of FIAT professional commercial vehicles and a service partner of FCA Germany AG. In addition to the sale of these vehicles, the Karabag Group also offers services for vans and mobile homes on a Fiat basis.

The company has three locations in the Hamburg districts of Eimsbüttel, Hamm and Wandsbek.

Company history

After the green electricity and gas supplier WEMAG AG took over a 70 percent stake in Karabag Elektroauto GmbH in May 2014 , the competencies in the field of solar power - storage and electromobility were further bundled in February 2015 . Karabag Elektroauto GmbH, which belongs to the Karabag (corporate) group and has been selling electric vehicles since 2009, was merged into ReeVOLT GmbH, a subsidiary of WEMAG AG, in February 2015. With this step, the last 30 percent has in fact been taken over by WEMAG AG. The WEMAG business areas for photovoltaic systems , domestic energy management and electric vehicles can thus be found integrated in ReeVOLT GmbH.

After the sale of the electric vehicle division in 2015, the Karabag Group today consists of the parent company CCF Centro Commerciale GmbH, which has existed since 1992, and the two operating companies Karabag Hamburg-Mitte GmbH and Karabag Eimsbüttel GmbH, which were founded in July 2016. The sales and aftersales business of Fiat commercial vehicles takes place under these.

In addition to selling Fiat commercial vehicles, the company also manufactured electric vehicles. The Karabag electric cars were offered in Germany from 2009 to 2015. Initially, these were vehicles from the company Micro-Vett from Modena / Italy, homologated by Karabag in cooperation with TÜV Süd . From 2011 Karabag also built electric vehicles in its own (European) production facilities. Many Karabag electric cars used a Fiat body, and from mid-2011 Karabag also offered vehicles on a Ford Ka basis. Together with various partner companies, Karabag also developed a contact-free charging system using an induction loop and a CO 2 -neutral conventional vehicle heating system through the combustion of bioethanol (together with Eberspächer ).

The product range of Karabag Elektroauto GmbH included the Fiorino E, the Doblò E as another slightly larger small van, a Scudo E as a representative of the so-called Vito class and finally the Ducato E in all sizes and weight classes up to 4 tonnes permissible total weight as a representative of the Sprinter -Class . As a small car, Karabag offered the 500 E based on a Fiat 500 and a KA-E based on a Ford Ka. The Fiorino E and the Transporter range can reach speeds of up to 140 km / h. The 500E drives up to 110 km / h.

With the Karabag new 500 E, Karabag Elektroauto GmbH, together with German technology partners such as Linde Material Handling GmbH, has for the first time managed to develop an electric car in Germany that is more cost-effective than a small petrol-powered car.

In order to optimize the service connection, Karabag Elektroauto GmbH has started a project with Still to provide a comprehensive network of over 800 service points in Germany.

At the end of 2013, the prices for electric cars could be reduced significantly “through improved purchasing conditions and a simplified construction”. In addition, it became possible to deliver a drive train for self-retrofitting, for example, from classic cars to electric drives.

Today the Karabag Group sells the Fiat Professional Commercial Vehicles Fiat Ducato , Fiat Doblò , Fiat Talento and Fiat Fullback as an official partner .
