Guerstling (German Gerstlingen ) is a French commune with 415 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ).

geography

The place is in the north of the historical Lorraine region , on the German-French border, in the vicinity of the Saarland Niedaltdorf , on the river Nied .

history

The community was first mentioned in 1283 as Guerselanges . Other names were Gerselinga (1544), Görselingen an der Nied (1555), Gerstlingen sur la Nied (1600), Guerchelin (1742) and Gersling (1779).
