Stráž nad Nežárkou (German: Platz an der Naser ) is a town in the Okres Jindřichův Hradec in the Czech Republic .
geography
Stráž nad Nežárkou is on the European road E 551, about halfway between the district town of Jindřichův Hradec ( Neuhaus ) and Třeboň ( Wittingau ). The Nežárka flows on the northern outskirts . Neighboring towns are Plavsko , Vydří , Příbraz and Pístina . The municipality extends to the southeast to the Stankau pond and the Austrian border.
history
A castle was first mentioned in 1284 at the place of a lookout above the Nežárka, the late Gothic tower of which is still preserved today. The castle was built by the lords of Stráž , a branch of the lords of Neuhaus founded in 1267 . In the 14th century, the Burgflecken was raised to the market. The Gothic parish church of St. Peter and Paul is first mentioned in 1361.
Heinrich von Stráž, who professed his Utraquism , held the office of Oberstlandhofmeister under King Georg von Podiebrad . With his son Georg / Jiřík, the von Stráž family died out in 1474 . Subsequently, the owners changed frequently. At the beginning of the 16th century, the place belonged to the Kuttenberg entrepreneur Wenzel Wenzelik von Wrchowischt ( Václav Vencelík z Vrchoviště ). In 1577 it was owned by Johann d. Ä. von Lobkowitz, who sold it to Oberstburggrafen Wilhelm von Rosenberg that year . From this it was inherited in 1592 by his brother Peter Wok von Rosenberg , who subsequently fought against economic bankruptcy. To help him, Adam II von Neuhaus bought Stráž shortly before his death in 1596. His son Joachim Ulrich von Neuhaus , the last male descendant of the von Neuhaus family, donated the Stráž estate to his brother-in-law Wilhelm Slavata in 1602 , whose descendants stayed there until 1693.
After the castle burned down in 1570, a castle was built in its place after 1715. Shortly after 1800, Karl von Leonhardi bought the facility. From 1914 to 1930 it was owned by the opera singer Ema Destinová .
In 1876 the market town was elevated to a town by Emperor Franz Joseph I. After the Second World War the city rights were lost. Stráž has been a town again since 2006.
Community structure
The town of Stráž nad Nežárkou consists of the districts Dolní Lhota ( precipitation ), Dvorce ( Wurzen ) and Stráž nad Nežárkou ( place on the Naser ), which also form cadastral districts. To Stráž nad Nežárkou also includes the settlements Blatská BASTA Blatská Hajnice, Fähnrichův Mlýn ( Ensign mill ), Hlinice, Lesovna V Dubovicí ( Forsthaus Margaret ), Na Cihelně, Terezský Dvůr ( Theresienhof ) Šimanov ( Schimani ), U Krupičků and U Skalniků ( Skalnik ) as well as the desert areas Hajnice v Zadním lese (Heger houses in the back forest ) and Nový Mlýn ( Neumühle ). Basic settlement units are Dolní Lhota, Dvorce, Stráž nad Nežárkou, Šimanov and Terezský Dvůr.
Attractions
- The parish church of St. Peter and Paul , mentioned in 1361, was rebuilt in 1413. Further changes took place in the 19th century. There is an epitaph for Heinrich von Stráž in the attached Michael's chapel .
- The late Gothic tower has been preserved from the original castle . It was increased in 1861.
- The castle , built after 1715, has been renovated in recent years. It houses an exhibition on Ema Destinová.
