Powarowo ( Russian По́варово ) is an urban-type settlement in Moscow Oblast ( Russia ) with 7985 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The place is about 30 km northwest of the outskirts of the Russian capital Moscow . It belongs to Rajon Solnechnogorsky and is located about 15 km south-west of the administrative center Solnechnogorsk . Powarowo is the seat of the municipality of the same name (gorodskoje posselenije), which includes nine other nearby small villages and settlements.
history
The village Powarowo, known since 1472, belonged to the boyar family Saltykow in the 17th century , later to the families Morosow, Naryschkin and others. It remained insignificant until the 20th century.
A forestry company was established in the 1930s, followed by various industrial operations after the Second World War , including a deep drilling plant and a geophysical oil exploration company . The first multi-storey residential buildings were erected, and in 1960 the place received urban-type settlement status.

Economy and Infrastructure
In Powarowo there is a machine factory, the geological exploration company Spezgeofisika, a forestry company and construction companies, in the vicinity there are a large number of garden centers.
In the village is the Powarowo-1 station on the Saint Petersburg – Moscow railway line (route km 598). This is crossed immediately south of the Great Moscow Railway Ring with the stations Powarowo-2 (east of the place) and Powarowo-3 (south). The importance as a railway junction is also reflected in the coat of arms of the settlement, in which the course of the railway lines is stylized.
The M10 trunk road , which also connects Moscow and Saint Petersburg, runs northeast of the settlement . A few kilometers south of Powarovo, the M10 is crossed by the Moscow Small Ring A107 .
It is believed that until around 2010 the short-wave transmitter UVB-76, which may be used for military purposes, was located in the forest area northeast of Powarowo.
