In this year's final for the Scottish Cup, last year's winner Celtic and FC St. Mirren faced each other. For Celtic it was the 18th final in the Scottish Cup since 1889 . The Saints reached the finals for the second time after 1908 . In 1908 the Paisley team lost 5-1 to Celtic . The Saints retaliated that year with a 2-0 win with goals from Davie McRae and Jimmy Howieson and won the Scottish Cup for the first time. The Scottish Championship in the same year won Celtic , the Saints were fourth.
