During the 2008/2009 season , the Scottish FA Cup was held for the 124th time. The Glasgow Rangers were able to successfully defend their title in the final on May 30, 2009 against FC Falkirk . A total of 82 teams took part, which together scored 297 goals.

On May 30, 2009 the final between the defending Rangers from Glasgow and the Falkirk Football Club was traditionally held in Hampden Park in Glasgow . FC Falkirk had a total of 55% ball possession and only committed 10 fouls (the Rangers committed 16 fouls). Both received 3 yellow cards each. Falkirk was offside 7 times and the Rangers only 1 time. Glasgow won the corner ratio 4-2. Nacho Novo scored the decisive goal in the 46th minute. Thus, the Glasgow Rangers could get the Scottish double: the championship and the cup.

The Glasgow Rangers were able to win the Scottish FA Cup for the 33rd time in 2008/2009 . Only the city rivals Celtic Glasgow are ahead of that with 34 titles. Overall, the Rangers showed one of their best tournaments. They only conceded one goal and scored 14 goals themselves.
