The 2016/17 snooker season was a series of snooker tournaments that were part of the Main Tour .
Season results
With the abolition of the Players Tour Championship , the total number of tournaments was reduced. However, three PTC tournaments (in Riga, Fürth and Gibraltar) were retained as separate short tournaments. As another tournament on the European continent, the European Open , which was last held in 2004, has been reintroduced as a fully fledged world ranking tournament. In the British Isles there was a new "Home Series" with the established Welsh Open and three new tournaments in Scotland, England and Northern Ireland. Furthermore, the shoot-out received the status of a ranking tournament for the first time this season.
