history

The first written mention of Tovir was in 1203. In 1239 the place was called Towir , 1272 as Towirz , 1275 as Thowircz , 1281 as Towirs , 1317 as Thowiers , 1358 as Dobyrs and 1368 as Towerz . In 1378 the Leitomischler Bishop Albrecht von Sternberg and his nephew Peter von Sternberg bought Thowierz and Dolany from the brothers Beneš and Půta von Wildenberg auf Bouzov . In the following year the bishop donated both villages together with other goods to the Carthusian monastery Tržek, despite a protest by the Hradisch Abbey , which owned half of Thowirz as well as the tavern and a farm in Dolany . Between 1388 and 1409 the order established the Charterhouse "Vallis Josaphat" near Dolany , which was bought and razed in 1437 by the city of Olomouc. Other forms of name were Thovíř (1481), Tovíř (from 1512), Toveř (from 1526), Towersch (from 1669), Towiersch (1676), Towerz (from 1720) and Towerž (1771). The registers were kept in Dolany since 1648. Until the Olomouc Charterhouse was abolished in 1782, Toveř remained in the possession of the Carthusians for over 400 years. Then it was attached as part of the rule Dollein to the cameraman of Hradisch and in 1826 sold to Philipp Ludwig Count Saint-Genois ď Aneaucourt (1790-1857). In 1834 the village consisted of 32 houses and had 224 inhabitants.

After the abolition of patrimonial Toveř / Towersch formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration of Olomouc. From 1921 the municipality belonged to the Okres Olomouc-venkov under the new name Tovéř . In 1950 Tovéř came to Okres Olomouc-okolí and since its abolition in 1961 the place belongs to Okres Olomouc. In 1961 Tovéř was incorporated into Dolany. Since 1990 Tovéř has formed its own municipality again.
