Aoste is a French commune with 2,878 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Administratively it belongs to the Arrondissement of La Tour-du-Pin and is part of the canton of Chartreuse-Guiers . The inhabitants are called Outards or Aostiens .
geography
Aoste is bounded in the northeast by the Rhone , into which the Guiers flows, which forms the eastern municipal boundary. Aoste is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Brégnier-Cordon in the north, Saint-Genix-les-Villages with Saint-Genix-sur-Guiers in the east, Romagnieu in the south, Chimilin in the west and south-west, Granieu in the west and Les Avenières in the north-west.
