Arcus-Air is a German airline based in Zweibrücken and based on the Zweibrücken airfield . It is a subsidiary of the Arcus Air Group .
history
The company was founded in 1973 as Arcus-Air-Taxi . In the 1980s she operated scheduled charter flights from Mannheim to Oberpfaffenhofen and other European destinations. In addition, the airline has established itself as Formula 1 - air taxi and upgraded many former racers on their site. In the 1990s, flight operations between Leipzig / Halle and Dresden began .
In 1988 Flugdienst Pegasus GmbH & Co KG was also acquired, taking over its Mannheim shipyard and the first Dornier Do 228 . The existing flight connections to Munich were expanded to include the Mannheim / Hamburg route.
The subsidiary Cosmos Air , founded in 1997, began scheduled air traffic with a Dornier 328 between Mannheim , Berlin-Tempelhof and London City , the latter being discontinued due to low demand. Cosmos Air was taken over in 1999 by Cirrus Airlines , which had ceased to exist in 2012 , after Arcus-Air-Logistic GmbH & Co. KG filed for bankruptcy and the entry in the commercial register had been deleted. From this point on, the company no longer offered scheduled flights .
On June 18, 2020, Arcus Air Logistics and Arcus Air OBC ( on-board courier ) were sold to Chapman Freeborn , a subsidiary of the Avia Solutions Group .
