geography

The municipality of Avricourt is located about 20 kilometers southwest of Sarrebourg on the border with the neighboring department of Moselle .

history

Until the Franco-Prussian War, the place was part of the municipality of Avricourt in the neighboring department of Moselle , which was ceded to the German Empire by the Frankfurt Peace Treaty in May 1871 .

Through renegotiations, France was able to get back the southern part of the municipality including the train station built in 1852 in October 1871.

Even after the rest of Avricourt was returned to France at the end of the First World War , the two communities remained separate.
