Chappe et Gessalin (CG, Chappe Frères & Gessalin) was a French manufacturer of automobiles from Brie-Comte-Robert , who operated between 1947 and 1974.

development

Initially, the company made aluminum bodies for Talbot and Delahaye . Later on, polyester bodies were also manufactured for Charles Deutsch , Deutsch-Bonnet and Alpine . In 1966 the first of three own models was presented, all of which were based on Simca vehicles . Production ended in April 1974 after around 405 copies.

Albert Uderzo developed a trademark showing a rooster in 1970 as the company was located on "Rue du Coq Gaulois" in Brie-Comte-Robert.

The models

A 1000

The first model was presented in 1966. It was based on Simca 1000 technology and was available as a Spider 1000 with an open body made of polyester and as a Sport 1000 as a coupé . The four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 944 cm³ made 40 hp . In 1969 the more powerful 1000 S model was added, also as a convertible and coupé, with an engine producing 49 hp from a displacement of 1118 cc.

B 1200 S and 548

The B 1200 S model appeared in 1968, again as a convertible and a coupé. The engine with a displacement of 1204 cm³ initially made 80 hp, from 1970 85 hp. In 1970 the lighter model 548 was added, which was also available as a Spider and was primarily intended for motorsport. A Constantin compressor was also available for this model .

C 1300

The C 1300 appeared in 1972. The engine from the Simca 1000 Rallye 2 developed 82 hp from a displacement of 1294 cc, and 95 hp in the sports version.
