Automobiles DB , also known as Deutsch & Bonnet and Deutsch et Bonnet , was a French manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
Charles Deutsch inherited an automobile workshop from his father and sold it to René Bonnet in 1932 . In 1938 they jointly founded the Automobiles DB company for automobile production in Champigny-sur-Marne . One source states that Deutsch was only involved unofficially because as a civil servant he had no right to participate in a company. The brand names were DB and Deutsch & Bonnet . Road vehicles were not built until after the Second World War . In 1961 the partners separated and dissolved the company. Deutsch then founded Automobiles Charles Deutsch and Bonnet Automobiles René Bonnet .

The company introduced lightweight sports car with fiberglass -bodies ago, the most of Panhard - Boxer engines were driven. DB participated intensively in competitions, in particular the 24 Hours of Le Mans . Charles Deutsch designed some bodies with very effective aerodynamics , which helped the DB racing cars achieve high top speeds despite their small Panhard boxer engine.
Deutsch and Bonnet were in constant discussion about whether they should build vehicles with front-wheel drive or mid-engine .
