List of Copa del Rey winning coaches
The list of Copa del Rey winning coaches includes all coaches who have led their respective teams to a victory in the Copa del Rey .
The Copa del Rey has been played since 1902. Club coaches were still a rarity in Spain at the beginning of the 20th century. For example, 18 cup winners (1902–1914, 1918–1919, 1927) had no permanent club coach. The most successful coach in the history of the Copa del Rey is Ferdinand Daučík , who won a total of six cup titles with FC Barcelona , Athletic Bilbao and Real Saragossa , followed by Fred Pentland and Luis Aragonés with five and four cups respectively. Pentland holds the record for the longest series of titles with four cup wins in a row. Billy Barnes was the first winning coach of the competition in 1915 and also the first trainer with two titles and the first title defense.
The oldest winning coach was Helenio Herrera in 1981 at the age of 71. The Argentine won the Copa del Rey for the second time 22 years after his first cup win in 1959 and thus also holds the record for the largest time difference between the first and last cup success. The youngest cup winner was Juan José Nogués , who was only a few weeks younger than Víctor Fernández in 1994 at the age of 33 years and 85 days in 1942 .
