Obernhof is a village in Radevormwald in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the North Rhine-Westphalian administrative district of Cologne in Germany .

Location and description

The place is in the north of the urban area. The neighboring towns are Freudenberg , Landwehr , Lambeck , and Feckinghausen . A source brook of the Freebach rises in Obernhof , which flows into a preliminary basin of the Heilenbeck dam .

Politically, the place is represented by the direct candidate from electoral district 170 in the city council of Radevormwald.

history

In 1516 the place Overhof or Oberhove is mentioned for the first time in church accounts of the Reformed parish of Radevormwald. The section of the Bergische Landwehr , which passed the Hofschaft in the north and stretched from Wuppertal-Elberfeld to Marienheide-Krommenohl, protected the Bergisch territory from incursions from the Märkisch region. The local researcher Gerd Helbeck dates the emergence of this Landwehr to the early 14th century. The old Radevormwald - Schiffahrt - Rüggeberg road, which crosses the Landwehr near Oberhof , is evidently mentioned as part of the Cologne - Dortmund route in 1715 and 1799. In 1715 the farm is listed on the Topographia Ducatus Montani with the Überhof . In the topographical survey of the Rhineland map from 1825, the place is named with the name Obernhof , which is used today .
