Saint-Adrien Chapel

Saint-Barthélemy ( Breton : Bartelame ) is a French municipality with 1164 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany .

geography

Saint-Barthélemy is located in the southern part of central Brittany and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy . The municipality is bordered to the west by the Blavet River .

Neighboring communities are Pluméliau-Bieuzy with Pluméliau in the north and northeast, Guénin in the east and southeast, Baud in the south, Quistinic in the southwest and Melrand in the northwest.

In a north-south direction, the D 768 runs east of the municipality, connecting Auray to Pontivy . The Auray – Pontivy railway runs through the municipality .

history

Historically, the municipality belongs to the Breton region of Bro-Gwened (French: Vannetais) and within this region to the Bro Baod (French: Pays de Baud) area and shares its history. It was a district within the municipality of Baud until July 17, 1867. Since then it has been an independent community.
