Saint-Gilles is located about 20 kilometers northwest of Chalon-sur-Saône on the Dheune and the Canal du Center . Numerous types of wine are grown here in the Bourgogne wine region . Saint-Gilles is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Cheilly-lès-Maranges in the north and north-west, Chassey-le-Camp in the east and north-east, Chamilly in the east and south-east, Saint-Mard-de-Vaux in the south and Saint-Léger-sur- Dheune to the west and southwest.
