The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 15th time in 1887/88 . The most important football cup competition in Scottish club football was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association. It began on September 3, 1887 and ended with the finale on February 4, 1888 in Hampden Park, Glasgow. As the defending champion, Hibernian Edinburgh started the competition that had won against FC Dumbarton in the final last year . In this year's final of the Scottish Cup met FC Renton on the FC Cambuslang . Renton reached after 1875 , 1885and in 1886 the final for the fourth time in the club's history. In 1885 the club won the final against FC Vale of Leven . In the other two finals, the team was defeated by the record winner FC Queen's Park . For Cambuslang it was the only participation in the final. In 1897 the association was dissolved. Renton won the final 6-1. It remained the last major title until the club was dissolved in 1922.
