English national cricket team in Sri Lanka for the 2014/15 season
The tour of the English national cricket team to Sri Lanka in the 2014/15 season took place from November 21 to December 16, 2014. The international cricket tour was part of the 2014-15 international cricket season and featured a seven-game ODI series that Sri Lanka won 5-2. It was the first seven-game ODI series that Sri Lanka hosted in its own country.
prehistory
For both teams, the tour served as preparation for the 2015 Cricket World Cup . Initially, five ODI and two Twenty20 were planned, with the latter also being held as ODI due to the approaching World Cup. This limited-overs games were connected to the pure test tour to England in the 2011/12 season in Sri Lanka conducted. It was England's first tour of the season, having last played against India at home in the summer . Sri Lanka previously played an ODI series in India . The last meeting of the two teams took place in England the previous summer .
