history

Adrspach with castle and rock city

Adersbach was probably created in the 13th century during the colonization of the Braunauer Land. The castle of the same name was first mentioned in 1348 and was owned by Hanuš von Dubá auf Adersbach in 1354 . His descendants built a fort not far from the castle, which was destroyed by the Silesians as a robber barons nest after the Hussite Wars . Peter von Dubá sold Adersbach along with the castle districts Rýzmburk and Skály 1534 the Johann of Pernstein , the same year by his brother Vojtěch of Pernštejn the rule Nachod had inherited. In 1543 he sold the Skalý and Rýzmburk dominions and a year later the entire Nachod dominion to the Smiřický of Smiřice . In the same year Adersbach was divided into the villages of Nieder- and Oberadersbach. In 1577 it was owned by Adam Bohdanecký von Hodkov, who had the castle rebuilt into a Renaissance chateau in 1577–1580. After frequent changes of ownership, Adersbach came to Johann Nádherný , whose descendants remained until 1948.

After the abolition of patrimonial Adersbach belonged to the district administration Braunau. Since the 19th century it has developed into a popular excursion destination because of the neighboring rock town, which Johann Wolfgang von Goethe visited in 1790 . The number of inhabitants was in 1900: 1538 and in 1930: 1490, of which 1390 were Germans.

After the Munich Agreement of 1938, the predominantly German-populated communities Nieder Adersbach and Ober Adersbach were added to the German Reich and belonged to the Braunau district until 1945 . In 1945 and 1946 the German residents were expelled. The number of residents decreased significantly. The last owner of the castle was Constantin von Nádherny, who was expropriated after the communist takeover in 1948 and emigrated to Austria. In 1949 Dolní Adršpach and Horní Adršpach were combined to form the municipality of Adršpach. Between 1976 and 1990 Adršpach was incorporated into Teplice nad Metují.
