Another story
In the course of the Marburg Treaty , the place came to Pfalz-Veldenz in 1543 . From 1694 Jettenbach belonged to the Electoral Palatinate .
From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , the place was incorporated into the canton of Wolfstein . In 1815 the Jettenbach belonged to Austria . After the Congress of Vienna , it was added to Bavaria a year later . From 1818 to 1862 the community continued to belong to the canton of Wolfstein and was part of the Kusel Land Commissioner , which was then converted into a district office.
In 1939 the place was incorporated into the Kusel district. After the Second World War , Jettenbach became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . In the course of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform , Jettenbach became part of the Wolfstein community in 1972 . The place has belonged to the Lauterecken-Wolfstein community since 2014 .
Place name
The first syllable of the place name refers to the meadow lole that still grows on the Ortsbach .
This part of the name “jetto”, which comes from the Old High German, was used at that time for weeds, or as a plant name for meadow mole. A personal name that could be associated with this jetto is not known. So it can be assumed that the first settlers had to weed out this lole in order to reclaim the meadows, but also the center of the village. The basic word -bach was added to this epithet “jetto”. Thus, the original meaning of the place name could be explained as a brook that flows through a valley overgrown with meadow dole (jetto).

coat of arms
The municipality's coat of arms was designed in 1967 in collaboration with the then teacher Straßenberg and the Speyer State Archives .
Blazon : "In green a silver obliqueleft-hand wavebar, top right a golden lyre, bottom left a golden tuft of ears (meadow hole)."
This coat of arms was approved on April 21, 1967 by the Ministry of the Interior in Mainz . |
|
Justification for the coat of arms: oblique wave beams and tufts of ears of corn are eloquent images of the place names, because getto or jetto is the Old High German form for tufts of ears of corn or meadow hole. The lyre or lyre identifies Jettenbach as a well-known Palatinate musicians' village. |
